It has been awhile since I’ve written. I’ve been pumping out a post a week on Shapeshifter Sculpting, or about one a week, but it has been difficult to fit time in here. Only so many hours in a day, yadda-yadda.
Shapeshifter Updates
I’m coming toward the end of a new sculpt, while also beginning to work on the painting scheme for the biomechanical. I’m also trying to knock out two more pieces before the end of the March. The whole intent is to have five pieces I can link to for the BCAF registration…which is due by March 31st. I’m in a bit of a crunch.
My hope, in an effort to maximize my time and efforts, is this: the latest sculpt is a take on the Joker. If I’m lucky, the molding process will not damage the figure much. Then, I’ll cut the head off, and set it up as a magnet. Mold that, cast, done. This would leave one more item to create, which I’m thinking will be another magnet. I’ve considered doing a cast of the zombie head for this, but would like to attempt another original piece. Of what I’m not sure yet.
Outside of the BCAF crunch, I’m ready to do a test paint scheme on the zombie as well. This is another one I’m uncertain of how I’m going to paint. I also need to source what I’m going to use for the hair strands, and what I’m going to use to attach those strands. Probably time for me to visit the Stan Winston archives and check out the video with Tim Gore where he makes the shrunken head. He used a material for hair that looked cool.
Social Media
Social media has been a great pain in the ass. Trying to fit in time for it, to make the effort, and to deal with the headaches that come with it. After struggling to get a Facebook account so I could set up a business page, I’ve twice been randomly suspended for no apparent reason. When this happens they take down my personal page and business page, and I’m left stressing whether I’m going to lose every hard earned follower and resource. It’s not exactly what I wanted in my life, but I cannot deny: the Shifflett Brothers sculpting forum alone is worth it. So, for the time being, I’m stuck navigating this shite.
Instagram is a slow slog. I’ve put in effort, but I think to really make it pay off requires the kind of time I don’t have. I’ve picked up a few followers here and there, but it has been slow. I don’t have an enormous amount of content to share at this point, so my posts and stories and other bullshit are sporadic at best. I personally don’t want to spam people with a bunch of nonsense and want to keep it on topic.
The Great Dumpster Fire
I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to the state of the U.S. Our country has aligned itself with our sworn enemy, Russia, and is essentially no longer an ally with the United Nations. We’ve been overtaken by an authoritarian criminal organization and are watching, in real time, as they undermine two hundred plus years of democracy, rule of law, government, etc. It’s beyond disheartening. It’s a tragedy.
We’ve been overtaken by a narcissistic billionaire, and Trump is just a malicious stooge under his control. No one voted for Elon Musk, yet he’s pretty much running the show, stealing our data, dismantling our government, and acting pleased as pudding the whole time. He’s breaking the law and he isn’t being held accountable. He’s also enriching himself and lining his pockets while he does this.
On a daily basis I swing from a feeling of depression and sadness, to extreme anger and a thirst for blood. The Republican party has sold us out. Every one of them are traitors to this country. If we’re lucky to survive this, and there is something of this country to salvage and put back together again, then every one of those motherfuckers need to be held accountable. Fucking traitors.
